Privacy Policy

How Chisel handles your information, and the rights you have over it.

Last updated: September 26, 2026

1. The short version

Chisel has no account, no server, no ads and no analytics. Your tasks, sessions and settings are stored on your phone. The only other parties are Google Play, if you buy Chisel Pro, and your phone's own Android backup.

2. What the App stores

2.1 On your phone

  • Your tasks: titles, descriptions, categories, deadlines, subtasks and their estimates and statuses.
  • Your focus sessions: when each started and ended, whether it was completed, and any notes you typed during it.
  • Daily statistics: pomodoros, focus minutes and completed tasks per day.
  • Settings: timer durations, theme, notification and sound choices, and the state of a running timer so it survives the app being closed.
  • Whether you own Chisel Pro, remembered so the app works offline. It is re-checked with Google Play.

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else by the App. We have no server to send it to.

2.2 What the App does not collect

  • Your name, email address or any account: there is no sign-up.
  • Location, contacts, photos, files, or your phone's advertising identifier.
  • Usage analytics, crash reports or tracking of any kind.

3. Google Play (purchases)

Chisel Pro is a one-time purchase made through Google Play. Google processes the payment; the App only learns whether your Google account owns Chisel Pro, so it can unlock it and restore it after a reinstall. We never see your payment details. This is the only reason the App uses the network. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

4. Android backup

If backup is turned on in your phone’s settings, Android includes Chisel’s task database and settings in your phone’s backup to your Google account, and restores them when you reinstall the App or move to a new phone. This backup is made and stored by Android and Google, not by us, and is encrypted by them. You can turn it off in Android’s backup settings.

5. Notifications

The App asks for permission to show notifications so it can tell you when a focus session or a break ends. The alerts are scheduled on your phone; nothing is sent over the internet to deliver them.

6. Your choices

  • See it: everything the App stores is visible in the App.
  • Delete it: delete any task, which also deletes its subtasks and sessions. Uninstalling the App deletes all of its data from your phone. Android’s backup copy follows your Google account’s backup settings.
  • Notifications: turn them off in the App or in Android’s settings at any time.

7. Children

Chisel is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone.

8. Changes to this policy

If what the App stores or shares changes, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
