The Short Version
Nix (“the App”, Android package com.oudayet.subkill) collects no data and shares no data. There is no account, no server of ours, no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting. Everything you enter stays on your phone. The only network traffic the App can cause is Google Play’s billing library talking to Google Play when you buy or restore Premium. (If you have Android’s own device backup turned on, Android may copy the App’s two data files to your Google account — see section 6.)
1. What the App Stores — On Your Device Only
1.1 The subscriptions you enter
- For each subscription: its name, price, currency, billing cycle, category, start and next renewal dates, optional notes, the colour shown for it, and whether it is active or cancelled (with the cancellation date, which the Savings tab uses).
- Nothing is read from your email, your bank, your contacts or any other app. The App only knows what you type into it.
1.2 Your settings
- Your chosen language, theme (light, dark or follow the phone), default currency, how many days before a renewal you want to be reminded, whether reminders are on, and whether Premium has been unlocked.
These two sets of data are kept in two files in the App’s private storage on your phone: one for subscriptions, one for settings.
2. Network Access
- The App’s own code makes no network requests. It has no server to send anything to.
- The App’s Android package does declare the internet and network-state permissions. They come from Google Play Billing, the library Google provides for in-app purchases, which uses them to talk to Google Play when you buy or restore Premium. It talks to Google Play only.
3. Notifications
Renewal reminders are scheduled on your phone, for 9:00 local time, by Android’s own alarm and notification system; under battery saving Android may deliver them later. They are created from the data already on your device, work offline, and are not sent through any push service or server. After a reboot or a time-zone change the App schedules them again from the same local data.
4. What We Do Not Collect
- Your name, email address, or any account — there is no sign-up
- Bank, card, email or SMS data — the App does not read any of them
- Contacts, photos, location, or device identifiers
- Analytics, advertising identifiers, or usage statistics
- Crash reports
5. Purchases
The optional one-time Premium unlock is processed entirely by Google Play. The App never sees your payment details; it only stores an “unlocked” flag on your device. Google’s handling of the payment is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
The App uses exactly one third-party service, Google Play Billing, for that purchase. There are no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no crash-reporting SDKs in the App.
6. Backups
6.1 Android’s own backup
- If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android can back up exactly two files of the App: the subscriptions file and the settings file described in section 1. The same two files are included when you move to a new phone with Android’s device-to-device transfer.
- Nothing else is backed up. In particular the queue of scheduled reminders is excluded; after a restore the App rebuilds every reminder when it is first opened.
- That backup is performed by Android and stored by Google under your account’s backup setting. It never reaches us.
6.2 Backup files you export (Premium)
- With Premium you can export your subscriptions as a backup file (JSON) or a spreadsheet (CSV), and import a JSON backup. An export is handed to Android’s share sheet, and you choose where it goes; a temporary copy is written to the App’s cache, which Android may clear.
- The App never uploads these files anywhere. Where they end up is the app or place you pick in the share sheet.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
- Your data stays on your phone until you delete it.
- Settings → Reset All Data deletes every subscription and setting in the App at once.
- Uninstalling the App, or clearing its storage in Android’s settings, also deletes it.
- An Android backup in your Google account is controlled from your phone’s Google backup settings, not from the App; you can turn it off or delete it there.
8. Children’s Privacy
Nix is not directed at children, and since it collects no personal information, it collects none from children either.
9. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes first, before the version of the App it describes is released.
