Terms of Service
The terms that apply when you use Unsent.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Unsent mobile application (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Unsent is an Android app that, once you turn on notification access for it:
- Saves incoming WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business messages from their notifications, on your phone
- Marks messages that the sender later deletes or edits, and keeps each earlier version of an edited message
- With Unsent Pro, also keeps chat photos, videos and voice notes, lets you search what it recovered, and lets you choose how long it is kept
Unsent is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by WhatsApp or Meta.
3. Recovery Is Best-Effort
Unsent can only keep what arrives on your phone as a notification, and only while Android lets it run. In particular it cannot recover:
- Messages that never produced a notification (for example while the chat was open, or with its notifications turned off)
- Messages that arrived before the App was installed and set up, or while notification access was off
- Photos or videos deleted before they finished downloading
Battery savers, manufacturer power management, Android updates and changes made by the messaging apps can stop or limit capture. The App shows on its home screen when capture is paused or off. Unsent is a help, not a guarantee.
4. Free and Unsent Pro
Unsent is free to use with ads, and keeps recovered messages for 7 days. Unsent Pro removes ads and adds photos, videos and voice notes, search, and a longer retention period. It is sold through Google Play as:
- Monthly and Yearly subscriptions, which renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel them in Google Play. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays active until the end of the period already paid.
- A free trial on the yearly plan, for accounts that are eligible for one. Google Play charges the yearly price when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
- Lifetime: a one-time purchase with no renewal.
Prices are shown in the App, in your currency, before you confirm. Payments, renewals, cancellations and refund requests are handled by Google Play, under Google Play’s terms and refund policies.
5. Your Data and Other People’s Messages
Everything the App captures is stored on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy. Recovered messages are deleted when their retention period ends, when you clear the App’s storage, or when you uninstall it, and we hold no copy to restore them from.
The messages the App keeps were written by other people. You are responsible for how you use them, and agree to respect their privacy and the laws that apply to you.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only on your own phone, for messages sent to you, and only for lawful purposes. You agree not to:
- Install or set up the App on another person’s device, or use it to monitor anyone without their knowledge
- Use the App, or what it recovers, to harass, threaten or harm anyone
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or redistribute modified copies of it
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, graphics, and logos, is the intellectual property of its developer, Naim Oudayet, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. WhatsApp is a trademark of its owner and is named only to say which apps Unsent works with. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without prior written permission.
8. Disclaimers & Warranties
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. In particular, we do not warrant that:
- Every message, edit, photo, video or voice note will be captured on every device
- A message marked Deleted or Edited was in fact deleted or edited by its sender
- The App will keep working after changes to Android or to the messaging apps it works with
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App, including messages or media that were not captured, or were deleted when their retention period ended.
Our total liability for any claim related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it; uninstalling does not cancel a subscription, which you cancel in Google Play. We reserve the right to discontinue the App or any of its features with reasonable notice.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first.
