Privacy Policy
How Give It Up handles your information, and the rights you have over it.
TL;DR: Give It Up stores all your data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. No account is required. No analytics. No crash reporting. No ads. Your quitting journey is entirely private.
1. Introduction
Give It Up ("the App", "we", "our") is a mobile application developed by Naim OUDAYET ("Developer"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use Give It Up.
By downloading and using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
We collect no personal information. We operate no servers, no accounts, and no user database. Nothing you enter into the App is transmitted to us, and there is no mechanism in the App by which we could receive it.
Data you enter — your quit goals, daily check-ins, cravings, slip triggers and notes, and preferences — is stored exclusively in a local database on your device.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
The following is stored locally on your device:
- Goal titles, icons, colours, start dates, habit type, and the optional targets, daily cost and daily amount you set
- Daily check-in records (resisted or slipped, date, trigger, notes)
- Craving records (when it happened, which goal, what set it off, and how it ended)
- App settings such as notification preferences, language, currency, and reminder time
- Your Pro purchase status, held in the platform's secure keystore (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain)
This data stays on your device unless you deliberately move it yourself using the Export Data feature (see section 10).
4. Network Access
The App requests internet permission for one purpose only: communicating with your app store to process and restore in-app purchases. No habit data, check-in history, notes, or settings are ever sent over the network.
5. In-App Purchases
Give It Up offers an optional Pro upgrade. Purchases are processed entirely by your app store — Google Play Billing on Android, or the Apple App Store on iOS. We never see, collect, or store your payment details. Billing is governed by the relevant store's own privacy policy, such as Google's Privacy Policy.
Your Pro status is confirmed through the store's purchase-restoration mechanism and cached on your device in the platform secure keystore.
6. Notifications
If you grant notification permission, the App schedules local notifications — daily reminders, milestone alerts, weekly summaries, and encouragement on high-risk days — directly on your device. These are generated on-device and involve no external server and no push service. You can disable them at any time in the App's Settings or in your device's notification settings.
7. Third-Party Services
Give It Up integrates with exactly one category of third-party service:
- App store billing (Google Play Billing / Apple App Store) — for processing in-app purchases.
No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no tracking SDKs of any kind are integrated into the App. There is no third party receiving information about how you use it.
8. Device Backups
Your device's operating system may include app data in a backup you have enabled yourself (for example Google One backup or iCloud Backup). Such a backup is created by your operating system, stored in your own cloud account, and governed by Google's or Apple's terms — not ours. We have no access to it. You can control or disable this in your device's backup settings.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Since no data is transmitted to us, no information about any user — child or adult — reaches us.
10. Data Export and Import
Pro users can export their data as a JSON file and share or save it wherever they choose, and can import a previously exported file to restore their history. Exported files are entirely under your control; we have no access to them. Anything you share the file with (a cloud drive, a messaging app, an email provider) is governed by that service's own privacy policy.
11. Data Security
Your Pro purchase status is stored using the platform's hardware-backed secure keystore. All other data is held in a local database protected by the operating system's standard application sandboxing, which prevents other apps from reading it.
12. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep the App installed. You can delete individual goals and their entire history from within the App, or remove everything at once by uninstalling the App. Because we hold no copy, uninstalling is complete deletion.
13. Your Rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR grant rights to access, correct, export, and erase personal data held by a company. We hold none of your personal data, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or erase. You exercise the equivalent control directly: view and edit your data in the App, export it as a file, and delete it by uninstalling.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change is material — for example if the App ever began collecting data — we will say so clearly in the App or in the store release notes. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
